This study investigated the impact resistance of 3D printed AFOs, comparing as-printed and vapor-smoothed samples. The results showed that vapor-smoothed AFOs significantly outperformed as-printed AFOs in terms of impact resistance. Vapor smoothing increased the force required to induce failure by 60-80%, suggesting that this post-processing technique can significantly enhance the durability and longevity of 3D printed AFOs, ultimately improving patient outcomes.
